Bills v Titans 2019

This post is a recount of a long weekend in Nashville with the boys.

Friday: I worked a full day as my 7:00 pm flight was out of the local airport in central New York. I arrived at my gate to find a few of my fellow passengers donning Bills gear. Cool, I thought, should be a good turnout for the game. I made it into Detroit for my connecting flight, which was jam-packed with Bills fans, some of them already getting rowdy. The Bills Mafia was on its way to Nashvegas. I landed on time, caught an Uber to my Airbnb, dropped off my bags, and headed for Broadway.

I met the boys at Luke Bryan’s. The live music was playing and the drinks were flowing. We hung out for a while and shot the breeze. It had been a long time since our last trip out; I hadn’t seen some of them in a couple years. There were people in Bills gear everywhere. I ended up running into several kids I hadn’t seen since high school.

Saturday: We got a late start to the day, rousing sometime in late morning. We made coffee and sat on the porch to hang out. My parents rolled up in an Uber with my sister who was staying at the Airbnb with us. She dropped her things then went to grab breakfast with my parents.

We Limed downtown to get brunch. I forgot the name of the place we went to but it was packed. We lucked out on getting a table from a party who had cancelled their reservation. We ate and then continued to Broadway.

We stopped at a few different spots before meeting up with my parents and sister at Jason Aldean’s rooftop. It was a beautiful day, albeit quite hot in the sun, nothing a few cold drinks couldn’t fix.

We then headed back to our Airbnb to get ready for the evening. After a quick shower, we headed out for dinner. We Limed toward Vandy and decided to stop at Kung Fu for dinner (would recommend). We ate and then continued our way to Vanderbilt’s campus. We Limed around for a bit before heading to Belmont. Belmont’s campus is beautiful, even by over-priced private school standards. We toured before catching an Uber back to the Airbnb.

Sunday: Game day was upon us. It was raining pretty hard and nobody was really in the mood to go out for breakfast so I swung by the gas station to grab some Trulys. We drank our liquid breakfast and took an Uber to Nissan stadium.

As we made our way to the tailgate lot, Bills fans abounded. There were so many you would have thought it was a home game. We made it to our tailgate lot, which was located near the pedestrian bridge overpass. We met up with my friend and his girlfriend whose family was tailgating. My friend attended UT Chattanooga and had been living in Tennessee with his girlfriend.

My parents then met up with us briefly before making their way into the stadium. We snagged a few pics.

We made it to the game and took our seats. What ensued over the next three hours was nothing short of some first class AFC trash football. The Titans’ kicker missed four field goals and the team had two touchdowns reversed by penalties, ending the day with a total of 7 points on the scoreboard. The Bills won by a narrow margin, maintaining a 7-point lead to seal the deal. It certainly wasn’t pretty, but hey, a win’s a win!

We of course made our way back to Broadway with the countless other Bills fans. We hit a few rooftop bars before the rain started. After, we made our way to a distillery (forgot the name) where we ate dinner before heading back to Broadway.

We stopped at a few places on Broadway, most notably Acme where we finished the night on the rooftop. My sister and I parted ways with my friend, his girlfriend, and my other friend.

My sister and I got back to the Airbnb around 12 am. I tried to sleep but couldn’t, I had the world’s worst heartburn. I also hadn’t heard from my friend in several hours, so I continually called and texted him until 5:30 am, at which point I heard a banging at the front door. Lo and behold it’s my friend, knocking with bloodshot eyes and soaking wet. I let him inside and he tossed his wet clothes on the floor before curling up in a blanket to sleep. When I say his clothes were wet, I mean they were like he had jumped in a pool wet.

The next morning I asked my friend what had happened the night before. He told me he fell asleep in a booth on the side of the road. After understanding I wouldn’t be getting any further explanation, I left the conversation at that and caught an Uber to the airport for my return flight.

Overall, I give my Nashville trip with the boys a solid 10/10.
